The fact of the matter is, everyone is different. Doctors should treat each csae with an open mind and really explore what the core issue could be. Addiction Doctors who really try and get to the bottom of your situation are far and few between.Addiction Doctorshttp://www.pressingtheissue.com/2010/11/find-a-suboxone-doctor-near-you/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-142743152971096915.post-18930458004930298842009-04-18T15:21:00.000-05:002009-04-18T15:21:00.000-05:00What most people - including doctors - don't under...What most people - including doctors - don't understand is that most "addictions" are actually compulsive habits. What this means is that although the action (effect) of the drug IS the focus of the activity, it is the brain that provides the compulsive element or 'craving', which is actually NOT a withdrawal symptom - it just looks like one on the face of it because it goes away when you take the drug, at least temporarily.

All compulsive habits are controlled by the subconscious mind, not the conscious mind. Once it has passed to subconscious control, the conscious mind has very little influence over that behaviour, so conscious decisions to stop, backed up by conscious effort to enforce that (willpower) rarely lead to cessation.

Anyone with a serious interest in this should read "Nicotine: The Drug That Never Was" by Chris Holmes (see Amazon.co.uk).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
